A person on a riding lawnmower died after being hit by a car in South Carolina, officials said.

The lawnmower was crossing state Highway 57 when a driver ran into it on March 28, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The person riding the lawnmower was killed in the crash.

State troopers said it happened at about 2 p.m. near Meekins Road, in Dillon County and roughly 65 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach.

Officials in a news release didn’t share the condition of the driver of the car, a Dodge Charger. The incident was under investigation as of about 4:30 p.m. March 28.

The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for additional information on March 29.
