CNN says this SC city is among the 12 best places in the world to vacation this fall. Take a look

Looking for someplace to go for a fall vacation?

CNN has some suggestions and you won’t believe what city made its list of 12 best places in the world to vacation this fall.

Greenville, South Carolina.

The lists from national magazines mentioning this Upstate city just keep on coming: city on the rise, best small cities, friendliest, best places to work remotely, best places to visit.

But Greenville has never been on a list as heady as this — Mexico City, Hanoi, Bavaria, Greenville? And the headline calls them “cool places.”

The list was assembled from recommendations by travel agents around the country.

“New England is glorious but doesn’t have a monopoly on vivid fall foliage. This small city set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great hub from which to see southern leaves take a bow,” CNN said.

CNN mentioned seeing nearby state parks: Paris Mountain, Table Rock and Caesars Head, “Colors typically start peaking around here in late October, but that can change year to year,” CNN said.

CNN also said Greenville is a good starting point for visiting other areas such as Congaree National Park, which, as any good Columbia resident knows, is actually in the Midlands, two hours from Greenville.

The 20,000-acre park is the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern United States.

CNN, of course, mentioned Greenville’s revitalized downtown and called out Mast General Store and Kitchen Sync restaurant.

No good list about Greenville exists that doesn’t mention Falls Park — “a transformative redevelopment project that refocused the city around Reedy River Falls.”

“Stunning natural beauty right off Main Street,” CNN said.

Other locales and activities on the CNN list were Samoa, Madrid, Egypt, Cape Town, U.S.- Canada Atlantic cruises, Buenos Aires, Hawaii and The Azores.
