Here are the most popular Halloween costumes in SC and US for 2022, according to Google searches
It’s almost that time of year when little ghosts, goblins, witches and superheroes walk door to door demanding candy — or else.
Halloween has long been a holiday for children and adults alike to let go of their inhibitions a bit and dress up as traditional scary creatures or in the pop culture costume of the day, be it a superhero, movie character or even real-life celebrities.
But which Halloween costumes are expected to be the most popular in South Carolina and other states this year?
Boohoo, a UK-based online apparel company, says it has those answers.
The retailer analyzed Google Trends to determine which costumes have been searched for the most for Halloween this year. The results were divided into most popular pop culture costume and most popular classic costume.
For South Carolina, the most popular pop culture costume is Harley Quinn, a DC Comics character portrayed in recent superhero films by actress Margot Robbie. Meanwhile, pirate was the traditional costume most searched for in South Carolina.
South Carolina’s Harley Quinn obsession comes as little surprise, based on the analysis, which found that the costume is the most popular overall for this Halloween, with 13 states searching for it the most.
The iconic horror character Chucky has been the second most sought after costume across the U.S. this year, with nine states searching for it online the most.
Rounding out for third place is Top Gun costume, being searched for online the most in six states following the box office hit “Top Gun: Maverick,” which opened in theaters earlier this year.
