A Spartanburg bakery has caught Oprah Winfrey’s attention.

Why, you ask?

Well, it turns out the bakery, Caroline’s Cakes, recently started selling a new cake that is one of the billionaire celebrity’s favorite things for this year. So much so that Oprah added the cake — a sweet potato cake to be exact — to her annual “Favorite Things” list for 2022, which was recently announced.

“I’ve highlighted some of the other goodies from this bakery in years past, but lately Gayle is loving the sweet potato cake,” Oprah said on the website. “The Southern classic is surprisingly light and not too sweet, and the cream cheese frosting adds just enough tang.”

The cake can be ordered through Amazon and is shipped in a cooler with dry ice. The 9-inch cake serves between 14 and 20 people.

On its Instagram, Caroline’s posted that it was honored that Oprah had featured its new sweet potato cake.

“We can’t wait to see this cake on dinner tables and party spreads nationwide this holiday season,” the post reads. “And, as always, thank you to our cake community for your support — this achievement would not have been possible without you all!”

According to the bakery’s website, Caroline Ragsdale Reutter began the business in the early 1980s making caramel cakes. Today the company is a mail-order bakery known for its Southern layer cakes and specialty foods made from family recipes.
