A house in Columbia is the best new Airbnb rental in South Carolina this year, the short-term rental company recently announced.

The listing, hosted by a 20-year retired Army veteran using only the name Kiel, has nearly 70 check-ins, maintains a near-perfect 4.96 rating and is already an Airbnb Superhost after starting with the online service just this year, a Friday Airbnb press release states.

The Columbia announcement is part of a larger Airbnb report that highlights the top new host in every U.S. state. To reach top new Airbnb host status for 2022, participants had to have the most check-ins within their region and had already achieved Superhost status on the platform. According to Airbnb, a Superhost is one that is highly-rated, reliable and responsive.

The Columbia site joins other first-time hosts with one listing in South Carolina — all of whom have earned a combined total of more than $25 million between Jan. 1 and Sept. 30, Airbnb states.

The one-story, three-bedroom house has four beds and can hold up to seven guests, the listing shows. Available for $114 a night, the home is completely renovated with a covered carport, large fenced-in backyard and has a neighborhood sidewalk. The house is less than 5 miles from Fort Jackson, downtown Columbia and the University of South Carolina. The home also has a doorbell camera and backyard floodlight cameras for security.

Other amenities include a 55-inch television with Netflix, a fireplace, a free washer and dryer, fast wifi and a dedicated workspace.
