These are the 8 best SC resorts to stay in during 2023, Southern Living says. Here’s why
South Carolina has plenty of beautiful and fun places filled with history, delicious food and natural splendor.
But unless you plan to go camping, you’ll likely want a nice place to stay. And South Carolina has plenty of those too.
From cozy beachfronts to luxurious spas, there should be something to your liking. Still, some resorts are better than others.
Southern Living has made it easier for visitors and residents alike to find a quality resort, however, by ranking the best ones in the state. Here are the eight best resorts in South Carolina in 2023, according to Southern Living.
The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina
Southern Living isn’t the only publication to praise this resort over the years. The resort’s website lists many ‘best of’ accolades from organizations including Conde Nast Traveler, USA Today and Fodor’s Travel.
“Palmetto trees welcome you to the property, where you’ll find wraparound porches, the serenity-inducing Estuary Spa and a water taxi for ferrying you to downtown adventures,” Southern Living writes. “The abundance of patios and porches means you’ll get your fill of harbor breezes (and handcrafted cocktails to enjoy while relaxing outdoors).”
The Inn & Club at Harbour Town
This luxury resort, part of the Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, offers 60 guest rooms, rounds of golf, tennis courts and a relaxing pool. Private fishing charters, cruises and boat tours at the nearby full-service marina are also available.
Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes
Enjoy the beach air from the comfort of your luxury suite at the Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes. Besides indoor and outdoor pools, as well as beach access, the resort features a hibiscus spa, where guests can be pampered and rejuvenate themselves.
Montage Palmetto Bluff
Enjoy the relaxing views at Montage Palmetto Bluff, which is situated along the May River in Bluffton. The resort is nestled within a 20,000-acre community between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. The resort offers plenty for guests to enjoy, from an extensive nature preserve, to nearby fine dining options, a riverfront marina and a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort
Located on sugar sand beaches, this resort offers access to an 11-mile lagoon system with bike trails, tennis courts and three championship golf courses. The resort also has multiple pools, beach access and an array of fine dining experiences.
The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Located 21 miles from Charleston, The Sanctuary offers 255 guest rooms. The four-story hotel was designed to look and feel like a grand and old seaside mansion, though it opened in 2004. More than 400 trees, including 160 50 foot-high Live Oaks, were planted around the building to add to its centuries-old feel, the resort’s website states. Amenities include outdoor and indoor swimming pools, fine dining and a spa. The resort even has partnered with Volvo to offer vehicles for guests to use on a first come, first serve basis.
Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes Resort
Sweetgrass Inn is a 1,600-acre property near Charleston that’s a great destination for golfing and for just enjoying the coastline.
“With plenty of pools, bike rentals, and opportunities to relax (check out the Spa at Sweetgrass, where you can contact the spa concierge to customize your stay), you’ll never want your vacation to end,” Southern Living writes.
The Willcox
Southern Living writes that The Willcox is not technically classified as a resort, but “you can find the epitome of South Carolina hospitality at this historic hotel, nestled in the resort town of Aiken.”
Enjoy fine dining, a relaxing spa or nearby activities, from polo and fox hunts and horse shows, to hiking, kayaking and shopping.
