SC among the 20 most fun US states, report shows. Here’s where it ranks and why it’s so great
South Carolina is more fun than most other states, a new report shows.
WalletHub, a major personal finance website, recently ranked South Carolina as the 19th most fun state.
But what makes a state fun? Fun can mean different things to different people.
To WalletHub, there are certain states that offer such a variety of activities that nearly everyone can find something to excite them — from outdoor activities and athletics to watching movies.
To determine which states are the most fun, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 26 key indicators, from movie costs to accessibility to national parks, nightlife options and restaurants per capita. Data sources for the report include the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, National Park Service, Council for Community and Economic Research and the American Gaming Association.
Below is a list of the key factors that earned South Carolina its 19th ranking.
- 18th — Restaurants per capita
- 13th — Golf courses and country clubs per capita
- 27th — Amusement parks per capita
- 19th — Performing arts, theaters per capita
- 26th — Fitness centers per capita
- 30th — Access to national parks
- 17th — Variety of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments
