Lucky sharks recently had its own all-you-can-eat buffet along the South Carolina coast.

A video of the sharks swimming through a school of fish near Pawley’s Island was caught on video and posted to Instagram last week. The video was posted by @themilkywaychaser, a reported wildlife photographer with more than 29,000 followers. To watch the video, click here.

The video, set to music from “Avatar 2: The Way of Water,” shows several sweeping shots of sharks darting back and forth through the large school of fish.

“Sharks attacking a large bait ball right off the beach at Pawleys,” the Instagram post reads. “Apex predators doing their part to keep our ecosystem stable - Pawleys Island is north of the Santee river so the water tends to be more blue and a little clearer than in the Charleston area.

Shark attacks of humans are rare, but they do happen in South Carolina. Here are ways to avoid a shark bite, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

  • Stay in groups since sharks are more likely to bite individuals on their own.
  • Avoid being in the water at night when sharks are more active.
  • Do not wander too far from the shore.
  • Do not enter the water if bleeding from an open wound or if menstruating.
  • Avoid wearing shiny jewelry. That can resemble the sheen of fish scales to sharks.
  • Use extra caution when waters are murky.
  • Refrain from excess splashing, as this may gain a shark’s attention.
