If a bottle of this South Carolina vodka company pops up in a future Marvel movie, its new owner may be the reason why.

Actor Jeremy Renner recently announced that he was an owner of Charleston-based Sweet Grass Vodka. Renner is likely best known for portraying the superhero Hawkeye in several Marvel movies.

“I’m so grateful for the progress I’ve made since the start of this year which allowed me to move forward with my interest in Sweet Grass Vodka,” Renner wrote on his Instagram about the deal. Renner has been recovering from a snowplow accident that happened last year.

According to its website, every bottle of Sweetgrass Vodka contains just potatoes, water, yeast and a single strand of sweetgrass purchased from the Gullah Geechee artisans in the Charleston City Market.

“There’s a piece of Charleston in every bottle,” the website states.

The vodka won a gold medal as the best Domestic Vodka of 2022 by The Fifty Best.

“Their mission is rooted in community and shared experience, which is why the second I tried it, I knew I wanted to become a part of it.,” Renner wrote. “I’m excited for new ventures ahead.”
