Summer has begun to wane but South Carolina still has plenty of festivals in its near future.

As fall fast approaches and temperatures begin to drop, South Carolinians will have a host of festivals to try, much like they did during the summer. From celebrations for all things okra to BBQ cook-offs and beer fests, there should be a festival for almost everyone.

Here are five of the best South Carolina festivals slated for September.

Charleston Beer Fest

The annual Charleston Beer Fest returns with more breweries, music, food, games and activities. More than 50 breweries will be represented at the event. When visitors check in, they’ll get a mug for beer tasting samples. You can purchase additional tickets for 14-ounce pours for $5 each.

Pets and people under 21 years old won’t be allowed into the event.

Columbia’s Greek Festival

The popular annual Greek Festival in Columbia has returned for another celebration of Greek culture. Visitors will have four days to enjoy live Greek music indoors and outdoors, a variety of Greek foods and presentations on Greek culture, history and heritage.

Sooie. BBQ Cook-off

Barbecue fans should check out the 13th annual Sooie. BBQ Cook-off. Produced by the city of Mauldin, the annual festival showcases the community’s heritage through food and music. The event will feature more than 20 cookers from across the Southeast who will compete for best BBQ. If you want to sample some of the best BBQ the Southeast has to offer and vote on who is number one, then this event will be your chance.

Uniquely Union Festival

Prepare for two days of family fun, live music and tasty food at the 23rd annual Uniquely Union Festival. The festival began as a BBQ cookout, but began expanding in 2013 to include live music and other activities. This year the event will have free live music throughout the festival, featuring special guests Mighty Mcfly and Bryce Leatherwood, winner of “The Voice” season 22.

The Irmo Okra Strut

Now in its 49th year, the Irmo Okra Strut is a must-visit event for all fans of the small vegetable. It’s a popular event, regularly drawing 25,000 a year on average and sometimes as many as 60,000 visitors, according to the festival’s website. However, the festival is about a good deal more than okra tasting. It also features live bands, a parade, arts and crafts, amusement rides and all kinds of festival foods.
