Thanksgiving is fast approaching and winter will be here soon, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t fall festivals left to enjoy in South Carolina.

Before freezing temperatures hit and everyone shifts to Christmas celebrations and shopping, South Carolinians will have several fall festivals and events left to try. From celebrations for all things medieval and fantasy to horse racing and chitlin feasts, there’s a wide variety of options.

Here are five of the best South Carolina festivals slated for the rest of November.

Mythical & Medieval Fest

This Renaissance-themed festival has a bit of everything for fans of knights in shining armor, princesses and fairytales. The event will whisk you away to a whimsical realm filled with a fairy forest, medieval combat, princesses, a fire show, an artisan’s village and more. Also, proceeds from the festival will go to Caleb’s Dragonfly Dreams, a local nonprofit that provides positive activities to children who have been abused and or neglected and reside in group homes and shelters.

Rockabillaque

It’s nearly time for the 10th annual Rockabillaque. This action-packed event comes loaded with classic cars, vintage bikes, live music, a block party and more.

There will also be a classic car and bike show with awards, a pin-up girl contest and fashion show, as well as a tattoo contest and beard and mustache competition. Oh, and plenty of BBQ to eat.

Aiken Fall Steeplechase Championship

Enjoy all the thrills and speed of horse racing on flat tracks at this annual steeplechase championship. Watch horses race along plush turf and leap over fences. The event will mark the end of the National Steeplechase Association’s racing season and be the deciding championship race for trainer of the year and rider of the year.

Intracoastal Christmas Regatta

  • When: Nov. 25

  • Where: Intracoastal Waterway between Patio’s in Little River and Dock Holiday’s Marina in North Myrtle Beach

  • Website: https://www.christmasregatta.com/

This will be the 39th year for this spectacular maritime parade. The parade begins at dusk so viewers can get good views of the boats decked out in Christmas lights. Restaurants along the parade route will offer special menus and events as part of the celebration.

The event is hosted by Yachts for Tots of North Myrtle Beach/Little River, which raises money to help children of Horry County who, for whatever reason, have fallen through the cracks of traditional agencies that provide assistance.

Chitlin Strut

Thousands are drawn to this small town each year to celebrate this odd food called chitlins that has been a Southern tradition for more than 100 years. The event itself is fairly old too, now in its 56th year.

And what is a chitlin?

Well, it’s a dish usually made from the small intestines of a pig that are either fried or boiled.

But don’t just come for this traditional Southern “soul food.” The event will also feature a parade, a variety of food vendors, arts and crafts, live music, a hog calling contest and a beauty pageant.
