Friend asked to record proposal ‘missed the whole kneeling part.’ See who is to blame
A woman in South Carolina was given the task of recording her friend’s proposal but got distracted, leaving someone else the limelight.
Mary Lindsay, known as @Marydawnsonl on TikTok, tried to record her friend, Kate Jones, getting engaged in Columbia to Nathan Demetri in the Jan. 29 video that has garnered over 24.2 million views as of Feb. 2.
As Demetri reaches into his pocket to pull out the ring, Lindsay pans the camera over to a furry creature spying on her from behind a fence — a raccoon.
The raccoon gets its 7 seconds of fame before Lindsay pans the camera back over to the couple — groom already back on his feet and all.
Lindsay wrote in the video, “I shouldn’t have been trusted to record my friend’s proposal,” and some users on TikTok agreed in the comments.
“I’d be so mad,” one user said.
“I’d be taking new best friend applications,” another wrote.
Although Lindsay “missed the whole kneeling part,” some TikTok users found the entire ordeal amusing, with one person saying, “I hope this is my proposal vid.”
“This reached the wrong side of TikTok first. I thought this was hilarious,” one user said.
“If this isn’t the behavior of the friend trusted to record this moment of my life, I don’t want it,” another user wrote.
For those worried that Jones and Demetri will have to forever remember they shared the spotlight with a trash bandit, Lindsay assured viewers in the comments that this wasn’t the couple’s only copy of the moment.
