South Carolina

It’s almost spring festival time in SC. Here are 5 of the best ones to try in March 2024

Winter is all but over in South Carolina and that means it’s time to gear up for fun spring festivals.

As the weather begins to warm, South Carolinians will soon have their pick of early outdoor spring festivals. From celebrations of all things barbecue to big St. Patrick’s Day gatherings and the highlighting of local independent filmmaking, there should be a festival for nearly everyone over the next month.

Here are five of the best South Carolina festivals scheduled during March.

Charleston Wine + Food

Start March off right with a wine and food event like no other. This festival gives guests the opportunity to develop their palates with Southern cuisine and the Lowcountry’s unique food styles, recipes and heritage. There will be more than 50 events throughout the festival.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

Spice up your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations this year by hanging out near the beach, enjoying a variety of food, music, crafts and other entertainment. The festival, now in its 34th year, will start with a parade down Main Street, followed by live entertainment, food and more.

St. Pat’s in Five Points

Dubbed as the largest one-day festival in South Carolina, this is an event you don’t want to miss. Located in one of Columbia’s trendiest business districts, the festival offers an array of activities for all ages, including local and national talent on four stages, performances and amusement at Children’s Carnival, a parade and plenty of food and craft vendors.

South Carolina BBQ Shag Festival

Started in 1987, this festival may be located in the small town of Hemingway, but it is big on barbecue. The festival features a whole hog barbecue cook-off and a big shag dance on Saturday night. The event also features arts and crafts, fireworks, an antique car show, local bands and more.

Reedy Reel Film Festival

Film buffs are encouraged to turn out for Greenville’s premier movie event, which will show the best movies the city has to offer. The festival promotes the appreciation of the art of filmmaking while generating support for independent filmmakers.
