Did this SC teen make it through the latest round of ‘American Idol?’
The West Columbia teen who was invited to American Idol’s Hollywood Week did not make it through to the next round.
There were 143 contestants and on shows Sunday and Monday nights, judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry chose 24 to go forward.
Kalyn Hamilton was not on the aired program.
The 15-year-old White Knoll High School student could not be reached for comment Tuesday, but in an interview last week she talked about the joy she felt while being around the other contestants, especially a singer from Las Vegas who is also 15.
Sophia Ava Marie appeared on the show for her audition but was eliminated during Hollywood week.
Hamilton had little experience singing publicly before auditioning for Idol, which the judges pointed out, but nonetheless they felt she had talent. Luke Bryan called her a potential superstar.
Last week, Hamilton said the experience in Hollywood was “wild.”
It was three days of auditions, interviews and school work with little time for sightseeing. The best part she said was the camaraderie.
And she hopes she’ll be able to go back for the sightseeing part.
