Do your kids need new school supplies or are you maybe just in the market for a computer upgrade?

Then you may want to get your shopping done in South Carolina this weekend.

It’s nearly time again for South Carolina’s annual tax free weekend. The event will be held from Friday through Sunday this year.

The South Carolina Department of Revenue wants to remind shoppers that eligible items can be purchased online and in-store without paying the state’s 6% sales tax and any applicable local taxes over the weekend.

Last year, South Carolina shoppers bought more than $30.4 million in tax-free items during the tax free weekend — a jump from the more than $26.2 million in tax-free items purchased in 2022.

“As inflation continues to drain many wallets, this year’s Tax Free Weekend offers some relief for weary families,” SCDOR Director Hartley Powell said in a recent press release. “Every shopper saves money during this tax holiday, particularly on back-to-school essentials.”

Tax-free items can be new or used and are eligible regardless of price. They can be purchased in-store or online. For a more detailed list of tax-free items, click here.
