Who doesn’t like a sandwich from time to time?
The humble sandwich can be made to fit anyone’s tastes or dietary requirements, be they vegetarian or need for gluten-free ingredients. And there’s a seemingly endless variety of sandwiches, from subs to reubens, Cubans and peanut butter and jelly — there’s really no wrong way to make one.
But what if you want more than an average sandwich? What if you’re craving something a little more top tier?
Yelp has recently compiled a list of where to get the best sandwiches in every state for 2024. The site identified businesses in its sandwiches category with a large concentration of reviews mentioning ‘sandwiches.’ It then ranked those spots using a number of factors, including geographic location and the volume and ratings of reviews mentioning the keyword.

Cold Shoulder Gourmet
Cold Shoulder Gourmet, found in Charleston, is Yelp’s pick for the best sandwich shop in South Carolina for 2024. Yelp notes that one of the favorite sandwiches at the small eatery is made with cold-smoked wagyu beef bologna.
Open since 2020, the restaurant sources its ingredients from local farmers to make its much sought-after sandwiches.
“Cold Shoulder Gourmet is a 1-man miracle, where owner Craig Edmunds slings a changing selection of small-batch gourmet focaccia sandwiches every morning until they sell out,” Yelp writes.
Yelp reviewers have had plenty to rave about regarding the little sandwich shop.
“I feel like the word sandwich does not do what he created for me justice,” Yelp reviewer Allison V. wrote. “It was one of the best lunches I have ever had.”
Yelp reviewers also appear to like the shop’s owner as much as the sandwiches.
“Only recommendation is to get there EARLY as they will sell out any time between 11-1 (at the latest) on the day(s) they are open. Chat with the owner - service and conversation was excellent,” Yelp reviewer Kalyn M. wrote.
