Are you sick of eating at the same old restaurants?

South Carolina has a handful of eateries off the beaten path you might not know about yet.

Three restaurants in South Carolina are among the best hidden gems in the U.S. for 2024, according to Tripadvisor. The American online travel company recently listed the restaurants as winners of its Best of the Best Travelers’ Choice awards for 2024. In all, 25 restaurants were chosen as the best hidden gems in the U.S. for the annual awards.

According to TripAdvisor’s website, the awards are the company’s highest honor and winners are among the top 1% of the company’s 8 million listings. The awards take into account the quality and quantity of reviews the restaurants receive by travelers over a 12-month period.

Below are the three South Carolina restaurants that earned their under-the-radar status.

Nunzio Restaurant + Bar

Nunzio Restaurant + Bar ranked fourth on the list of best hidden gems. The Hilton Head establishment has a diverse menu and a focus on fresh ingredients. Tripadvisor recommends trying the restaurant’s signature lamb shank or the seafood risotto. Also, visitors should pair their meals with one of the high-quality wines from the eatery’s extensive list.

“The warm ambiance, attentive service, and beautiful decor makes this a great choice for any occasion,” Tripadvisor writes.

Saskatoon Steakhouse

Found in Greenville, Saskatoon earned the 15th ranking on the list.

For more than 30 years, Edmund and Renee Woo have owned and operated their wild game and steak restaurant, moving to their latest location in the fall of 2017. The menu selection is truly wild, with offerings including kangaroo, elk, buffalo, antelope, alligator and ostrich.

For the more traditionalists, the restaurant also has selections of beef, pork, duck and seafood. The restaurant also boats that its steaks and wild game are all field-to-table.

Catch 22

This Hilton Head establishment rounded out South Carolina’s presence on the list, ranking 19th best hidden gem in the U.S.

While the fresh seafood dishes are the main attraction, customers shouldn’t ignore the rest of the restaurant’s menu, which includes hand cut steaks and unique desserts like peanut butter sushi.

“The wine selection is solid, and the staff’s recommendations are spot-on,” Tripadvisor writes. “The warm service and cozy atmosphere make it perfect for a night out with friends.”
