SC drivers can save money on gas through Amazon Prime now. Here’s how — and how much
South Carolina drivers who also use Amazon Prime can now save money at the pump at various gas stations in the state.
As part of having a Prime membership, the new deal lets customers save $0.10 per gallon at more than 7,000 BP, Amoco and Ampm locations across the U.S., plenty of which are in South Carolina.
According to an Amazon press release, drivers could save around $70 a year on average through the deal. That’s about half the $139 cost for an annual Amazon Prime membership.
“With free shipping on more than 300 million items, free access to remarkable video, sports, and music content, free food delivery, and substantial savings on grocery delivery and medications, Prime is an incredible value for members,” Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime, said in the press release. “We’re constantly looking to add more value for Prime members and perhaps the broadest and most popular additional benefit we could offer is fuel savings — we’re excited to give this to Prime members.”
How the deal works
To start earning the $0.10 per gallon savings, Prime members must visit amazon.com/fuelsavings. Customers only need to activate the offer once. Activating the offer will connect a user’s Amazon account and earnify account.
Members can then use the free earnify app store locator to find the nearest gas station that accepts the savings deal. Users can then redeem their savings at the pump by inputting their phone number or linked payment method. Members can also redeem at the pump with the earnify app by selecting their gas station and pump they are using.
Is the deal limited to certain fuel types?
No, Prime members with the activated deal can earn savings on whichever grade of fuel they buy, be that, regular, premium or diesel.
What about electric vehicles?
Amazon plans to launch a savings program for electric vehicles. A collaboration with BP’s EV charging business, the deal would let customers save money while charging their vehicles. The deal is expected to begin some time next year.
