Missing 18-year-old with ‘a very good heart’ found shot dead in South Carolina, cops say
Two people were arrested after police said a missing 18-year-old woman was found shot to death in South Carolina, news outlets report.
MyAngel Walker was reported missing to the Laurens Police Department on Dec. 12 after she failed to show up to work, according to WHNS. She was last seen in Clinton.
“It became apparent during the night that we were looking for something a little more than just somebody missing,” Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland told the news outlet.
Around 5 a.m. Dec. 13, Walker’s body was found inside a vehicle in Greenwood County, police said, WHNS reported.
“What started as a missing person case has now tragically turned into a homicide investigation,” Clinton Police Chief Michael Addison told WYFF. “Due to the partnerships across almost the entire judicial circuit, we were able to rapidly get to this and get justice for her.”
Court records said 19-year-old Malachi Pressley shot Walker between 10 and 11 p.m. on Dec. 11 in Clinton, according to GoLaurens.com
Taylor Shutrell Kinard, 19, is accused of helping Pressley “dispose” of Walker’s body, the outlet reported.
Pressley is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the outlet. Kinard is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Attorney information for Pressley and Kinard was not available.
Walker’s mother, Sade Woodruff, told WHNS that Walker and Pressley were in an “on-and-off again” relationship.
“Everything I’ve heard of MyAngel has been, ‘She was a very bright young lady with a very good heart,’ and this is a tragedy that should not happen, but we’re glad that we were able to get justice for the family really quickly here,” Copeland said, according to WYFF.
Pressley and Kinard were both denied bond, police said, according to the outlet.
Clinton is about a 65-mile drive northwest of Columbia.
