It’s almost time to celebrate the start of a new year — do you have everything you need?

From sandwiches and fireworks to chips, dip and alcohol, there’s plenty to get — and forget — to buy to celebrate the start of 2025. New Year’s Eve falls on Tuesday this year.

The good news for those who didn’t buy enough paper plates, want another bottle of wine, or just need to stock up on food, most grocery stores will be open on Dec. 31. Some may have adjusted hours, however. And most of these stores will also be open on New Year’s Day.

Here is when the big grocery store chains will be open in South Carolina on New Year’s Eve.

Publix

Publix stores will be open on New Year’s Eve and will close at 7 p.m.

Kroger

Kroger will be open on New Year’s Eve with normal operating hours. Normal operating hours may vary based upon location, so check with your local store.

Whole Foods Market

Whole Foods Market will be open on New Year’s Eve from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Shoppers should call their local store for details.

Target

Whether you have a Target with a large grocery store section or a small one, the result will be the same come New Year’s Eve — it will be open but will close at 9 p.m.

Piggly Wiggly

Most Piggly Wiggly stores should be open on New Year’s Eve. However, each store is independently owned and operated, meaning the hours for them can vary. You can contact your local store for details. To search for Piggly Wiggly locations, click here.

Walmart

Like its competitor Target, Walmart will be open on New Year’s Eve.

Food Lion

Food Lion fans in South Carolina are in luck! The grocery chain will be open regular hours on New Year’s Eve.

Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s will be open on New Year’s Eve and will close at 5 p.m.
