Isuzu North America Corporation will convert a 1-million-square-foot building in Greenville County for a $280 million truck assembly plant.
The facility, expected to be completed in 2027, is located on 200 acres on Augusta Road in Piedmont. More than 700 jobs will be created.
In a news release, the subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited said Isuzu has sold commercial vehicles in the United States and Canada since 1984. In the last fiscal year, a record 44,000 units were sold.
The plant will make N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric and F-Series Diesel trucks. It expects to make 50,000 units annually. The South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and provided Greenville County with a $7 million grant for site preparation and building construction.

Gov. Henry McMaster said the plant “reinforces South Carolina as a top destination for the automotive industry.”
The automotive industry has an economic impact in the state of more than $27 billion, according to the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
