A 181-acre horse farm with a 122-year old farmhouse in Newberry is for sale with an asking price of $2,288,108.

Located at 8660 SC Highway 395, the house has five bedrooms and four baths.

Listing agents Jeff Inman and Pat McNamara of Herlong Sotheby’s International Realty consider Martin Farm “one of the most stunning historic properties in the Midlands.”

The 6,429 square-foot Colonial Revival house has heartwood pine floors and tongue-and-groove ceilings with a parlor, family room, dining room and primary suite on the first floor. Upstairs are four bedrooms and baths. Many of the rooms, including bedrooms, have fireplaces.

Downstairs rooms have large windows and some built-ins. The bathrooms have been updated and include soaking tubs and separate showers.

The wrap-around front porch enters into a large foyer and staircase with an intricate banister and wooden treads.

A smaller porch on the second floor is above the front entrance.

There is also an addition that includes a sunroom, two-bedroom apartment with a private entrance and a three car garage. The listing says the addition was completed in 2005 to “help modernize the property.”

A 12-stall barn has a full hayloft “that requires some structural updates.”

The property is about an hour from Columbia, just outside downtown Newberry, which town leaders consider a true old-fashioned town center.

Newberry, located just off Interstate 26, has an array of shops and restaurants, Newberry Opera House, and Newberry College.

Many of the houses close to downtown date to the late 1800s.
