This $8.9M SC lakefront home for sale has outdoor living space bigger than most homes. Take a look
A 10,749-square-foot house at the highest point in the gated Cliffs Springs community on Lake Keowee is on the market for just over $8.9 million.
Located at 125 Scenic Crest Way in Six Mile, the house is situated on 5.88 acres and includes 3,000 square feet of outdoor living area including a basketball half court.
The three-level house has six bedrooms with baths plus four other bathrooms, one full and three half.
It was designed by Greenville architect Mitch Lehde with interior design by Inspiro8 Studio with large windows to bring the outside inside. It overlooks the lake and in the distance the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The listing says the house was designed to showcase sculpture by Argentine artist Raul Diaz known as Casa Blanca.
The Wall Street Journal reported the owners of the house John and Sarah Garvey built the house around the sculpture.
Other areas of the house feature significant artwork as well, including a Mark Alsterlind painting and Native American art, the newspaper said.
Sarah Garvey, a retired Boeing executive and her husband, a retired financial services consultant, are selling the house they intended as a retirement home to return to Chicago to be closer to their grandchildren.
They finished building the Six Mile home in 2010.
Among the features are black walnut floors, 22-foot floor-to-ceiling hurricane-rated windows and limestone floors in the living and dining rooms.
“These spaces are designed for entertainment, where guests can gather and enjoy drinks while being surrounded by curated art pieces that reflect the owners’ passion for collecting,” the listing says.
There is a guest suite on the main floor.
The kitchen was designed by Neff Beautiful Living with Iceberg and Prada Brazilian quartzite countertops, two Wolf ovens, a Miele cooktop, a Fisher and Paykel refrigerator and freezer, and a Miele beverage station.
There is a butler’s pantry with a Gaggenau freezer and Subzero beverage cooler.
The primary bedroom has walk-in closets with custom cabinetry and a bathroom Paris Ceramics limestone flooring and walls and two toilets.
On the lower level, a wine cellar that can hold up to 600 bottles is located near a game room with a pool table, full bar, steam room, exercise room, and multiple-covered outdoor areas. There is a bedroom on that level as well.
Listing agent Beau Sylvester of Herlong Sotheby’s International Realty said the owner, a high school player, built the basketball court for his sons and remembered the fun they had playing when the boys were teenagers.
“Later, they added a big fire pit and when their larger family came each summer the court and pit were the sunset gathering spot for the family,” Sylvester said.
An office overlooking the mountains and lake is located on the third floor.
Because the property is located in a Cliffs community, it comes with access to amenities including golf at the six other Cliffs developments in South and North Carolina.
Keowee Springs includes Keowee Springs Beach Club and The Lake Club, water slides, a surf shop, a Tom Fazio golf course, and a new clubhouse.
On its website, the Cliffs advertises another benefit.
“For those whose favorite color is orange, Clemson is just minutes away,” the website states.
