The highest paying job opportunity in South Carolina state government this week is for a physician at Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia at an annual salary of $225,246.

The 37.5 hour-a-week position involves providing medical treatment at the medium-maximum security prison, which normally houses about 1,100 inmates. Death row is located at Broad River.

Requirements are a degree from an approved school of medicine, completion of internship and a license to practice medicine in South Carolina.

The state is also looking for a finance team lead at a salary between $83,219 and $153,973 annually in the Department of Administration.

The job involves working with the SC Enterprise Information System, which helps decision makers improve government.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least six years of experience in accounting and finance.

The state’s Vocational Rehabilitation Department is looking for an attorney at an annual salary between $83,219 and $153,973. The job is based in Lexington County.

This is the primary attorney in an agency with 1,300 employees and 24,000 consumers.

A law degree is required and eight years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Camille Graham Correctional Institution in Columbia is in need of a dentist at a salary of $145,712 a year. The prison houses women and is named for the first female warden of a South Carolina maximum security men’s prison.

The job requires a degree from a school of dentistry and a license to practice dentistry in the State of South Carolina.

Broad River Correctional Institution also is looking for a dentist at a salary of $145,712 annually.

The School for the Blind in Spartanburg is looking for a principal at a salary between $86,870 and $129,959 a year.

A master’s degree and SC Licensure in Elementary/Secondary Principal Tier I or II is required as is a minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably with Blind/Visually Impaired students and three years of educational leadership.

The Department of Administration’s Office of Technology and Information Services needs an engineer to provide software support.

The salary range is $68,397 to $126,547 annually.

The job provides support for Office 365.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification is required.

The Department of Mental Health-Bryan Psychiatric and William S. Hall Hospital needs a nursing supervisor at a salary between $85,000 and $126,547 annually.

A bachelor’s degree in nursing and three years’ experience as a registered nurse, one of which must be in nursing management, is required.

The Department of Mental Health is also looking for a nurse supervisor / permanent charge nurse for in-patient services. The salary is $85,000 to $126,547 annually.

The job listing says “nurses assigned to this area currently are eligible for a 15% supplemental pay along with their base salary for as long as they remain an employee with G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital.”

Requirements are graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience and licensed as a RN by the SC State Board of Nursing.

The Department of Environmental Services needs an assistant bureau chief in the Bureau of Regional & Laboratory Services. The salary range is $100,000 to $126,547 a year. DES is formerly part of the Department of Health and Environmental Services.

The job entails working with regional offices managing air, land, and water programs.

A master’s degree in marine, environmental, or natural sciences, or related technical field and at least five years of environmental and supervisory related experience is required or a bachelor’s degree in marine, environmental, or natural sciences, or related technical field and at least six years of environmental and supervisory related experience.
