After declaring bankruptcy last year, Big Lots will open 54 stores by May 1, including four in South Carolina.

The South Carolina stores will be located at:

  • 2349 Cherry Road Suite 79, Rock Hill

  • 1000 N Pine St., Spartanburg

  • 915 S St, Suite A, Simpsonville

  • 1023A S Pendleton St., Easley

Variety Wholesalers, a Henderson, North Carolina-based company that also owns Roses, has obtained the leases on the 54 stores in 12 states across the South and Midwest, Fast Company reported. The company expects to open them over the next few months.

Big Lots, with 800 locations across the country, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2024.

The most stores to reopen under Variety — 12 — will be in North Carolina.

Other states with Big Lots will be in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.

Variety Wholesalers operates 422 stores in the Southeast.
