A baby living in a “deplorable” home with feces and drugs died, and now the child’s mom is charged, South Carolina deputies said.

Jamie Tiana Price is accused of being high on cocaine when she put her 6-month-old baby in an “unsafe and enclosed sleeping environment” in April. The infant was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Now, two months after the baby’s death, 26-year-old Price is charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, deputies wrote in a June 25 news release.

No attorney information was listed for Price in online court records.

The case dates to April 19, when Price was caring for her child. Deputies said she let the baby live in an environment that was “(ridden) with feces along with drug paraphernalia.” She’s accused of using illegal drugs in the Greenville home, putting the child at risk.

“The defendant also negligently placed the child in an unsafe cosleeping environment while the defendant was highly intoxicated on cocaine,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an arrest warrant.

Deputies in another warrant said Price’s “reckless disregard ultimately resulted in the child’s death.” The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reports that the cause and manner of death in the case were still pending as of June 25.

“It’s not standard practice for us to submit a media release on all pediatric deaths; if there is immediate circumstances to suggest homicide or something of that nature then we would send one out,” Shelton England, chief deputy coroner, told McClatchy News via email.

On June 20, Price was arrested in connection with the child’s death. She was taken to the Greenville County jail before being released on bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
