Miss SC 2025 named at Township Auditorium. Here’s who won

A 24-year-old Columbia resident whose platform is to teach CPR to as many students as possible is the new Miss South Carolina.

Sarah Kay Wrenn, representing Lake Murray, said after she was crowned at Township Auditorium Saturday night she wants “to male sure no student ever dies due to cardiac arrest.”

She also said she wants people to “never stop believing in their dreams.”’

She is a graduate of Clemson University and works as the director of School Engagement for the American Heart Association.

She hopes to earn a Master’s degree in business administration from Clemson and to become the National Field Development Director of School Engagement at the American Heart Association, according to a biography supplied by the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization.

She has visited 100 schools and trained over 5,000 kids in lifesaving CPR and AED usage, her biography says.

She was awarded a $60,000 scholarship for winning the title.

Her talent was a lyrical dance to “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman.”

Her bucket list for the next five years includes running the Kiawah Half Marathon as Miss South Carolina and a full Marathon as Miss America, attending the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and competing on Dancing with the Stars.

The other top five winners were first runner up Miss Greenville County Rachel Carter, second Miss Greater Carolina Mary Kimball Osborn, third Miss Simpsonville Jordyn Lewis and fourth Miss Hartsville Jules Lemonds.

Ending her reign as Miss South Carolina 2024 was Davis Wash, whose platform was to work with children of incarcerated fathers.

She started the The Silent Victims organization with a “commitment to transform pain into purpose” and has worked with Proverbs229, a Charlotte-based nonprofit with a similar focus, after her father was jailed for a white color crime while she was in college.

This year marks the 88th year for the Miss South Carolina competition.

The new Miss South Carolina will go on to the Miss America contest, now named Miss America Opportunity, in September.

The contestants have spent the week rehearsing and taking part in the preliminary rounds, which go toward selecting the top 15 semi finalists.

Preliminary talent winners selected on Thursday were first Anderson Moore, Miss Clover; second Mary Kimball Osborn, Miss Greater Carolina and third Constance Mixon, Miss Lowcountry.

Wednesday’s preliminary fitness award winners were first Jordyn Lewis, Miss Simpsonville; second Sarah Kay Wrenn, Miss Lake Murray; and third Rachel Carter, Miss Greenville County.

Preliminary evening gown award winners, also on Wednesday were first Jordyn Lewis, Miss Simpsonville; Rachel Carter, Miss Greenville County and third Chelby Drafts, Miss Sea Islands.

Hosts for the competition were Morgan Nichols Scarnecchia, a marketing strategist and Miss SC 2019, and Mitchell Lee, a singer/songwriter who went to The Citadel.
