Years after the pandemic moving boom, Myrtle Beach remains a top destination for folks dreaming of a fresh start. The city is the number one destination in America for people moving in compared to those moving out, according to data from a national relocation company.

MoveBuddha, which offers tools to estimate moving costs and connect users with movers, analyzed 55,000 searches on its Moving Cost Calculator between Jan. 1 and March 10 to compare rates in and out of cities and states across the country.

For every 100 people who wanted to move out of Myrtle Beach, 255 wanted to relocate to the area. And the Grand Strand wasn’t alone.

After taking the top spot in 2024, South Carolina is still the top state for relocation, based on early data from 2025. More than twice as many users looked at moving to South Carolina than those interested in leaving for other states.

In addition to Myrtle Beach, both Greenville and Charleston were named among the top 10 cities with more interest moving in than out. For every 100 searches leaving the areas, 229 searches reflected moves into Greenville and 168 showed interest in Charleston.
