SC has some of the richest billionaires in the world for 2026, Forbes say. See who they are
Becoming a billionaire sounds like an unattainable dream for many, but some individuals have found a way to aquire that unimaginable wealth.
The richest people in the world, like Elon Musk, Larry Page and Jeff Bezos, have so much money that their individual incomes are larger than some developed countries’ GDP.
There aren’t any billionaires in South Carolina with that kind of status, but it would still take a worker making federal minimum wage over 66,000 years of working full-time to accumulate a billion dollars.
Several of the richest SC billionaires are still some of the world’s wealthiest people, according to Forbes, a global media company.
Forbes annually releases a World’s Billionaires List, which shows the richest people in the world, and they recently published this year’s list. The Forbes World’s Billionaires List is a snapshot of wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 1, 2026.

#2414 Anita Zucker
Anita Zucker, who is 72 years old, is chair and CEO of Charleston, South Carolina-based InterTech Group, a private, family-owned chemicals manufacturer.
Zucker’s husband, Jerry, was the founder of InterTech Group, but died in 2008. She took over the company in his absence.
With her whopping $1.6 billion net worth, she is the 2,414th-richest person in the world. She is the 4th richest person in SC.
#1488 Brett Hildebrand
Brett Hildebrand is a major shareholder of Credit One Bank, one of the largest subprime lenders in the United States.
He cofounded Sherman Financial Group in 1998 with Ben Navarro, who is also on this list, building it into a credit card and debt collection empire.
Living in Charleston, Hildebrand increased his wealth by investing in biotech, AI and fintech bets through his investment firm IAG Capital Partners.
At 64, with $2.8 billion in assets, he is the 1,488th-richest person in the world and the 3rd richest person in SC.
#1302 Ben Navarro
Ben Navarro, who worked with Brett Hildebrand to create Sherman Financial Group, has racked up even more millions of dollars than his partner.
Based in Charleston, Navarro has spent more than $350 million buying up property around the city, including a stadium and historic hotel.
He is the 1,302nd-richest person in the world and the 2nd-richest person in SC at age 63. His net worth is $3.2 billion.

Robert Faith is the founder, chairman and CEO of global real estate firm Greystar, active in property and investment management and development services.
Based in Charleston, Faith’s company manages and operates $320 billion in real estate across five continents. Under Greystar, an investment management platform has more than $78 billion of assets under management.
Faith is the richest person in SC with a net worth of $5 billion. He is the 821st-richest person in the world.
