The most desired Airbnb in SC is not in Charleston, Myrtle Beach or even by the ocean. Take a look
You’d think the most wish listed Airbnb homes in South Carolina would be someplace like Kiawah or maybe even Myrtle Beach.
A beach for sure.
You’d be wrong.
Airbnb says the most wish listed home in South Carolina is Old Soul Treehouse in Waterloo, with a 4.99 of 5 point rating. It’s on Lake Greenwood, about 70 miles northwest of Columbia.
It’s actually built into the surrounding hardwood trees with a patio underneath. The hot tub is on posts as well and connected to the house with a raised walkway.
It has a private dock, heating and air conditioning, king-size bed, and a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.
“This is in the best location on Lake Greenwood,” hostess Kristin said. “We are located on the main water right across from Twin Rivers Landing which is a great place to rent a boat for the day.”
It’s around the corner from Harris Landing, which she describes as “a local dive that has excellent food and delicious drinks at their Tiki bar.”
She also recommends Break on the Lake, a short boat ride or drive away.
“The ‘sandbar’ is also very close to the house and a fun place to drop the anchor and hang out in waist deep water,” she said.
Lake Greenwood is known for its large mouth bass, channel catfish, and striped bass.
Kristin describes herself as a mother of three and a registered nurse who loves to travel.
“I prefer to stay in Airbnb’s over hotels because I love to communicate with the hosts and all the personal touches that most homes have,” she said. “I am also a Superhost and know how to create a comfortable guest environment!”
A guest named Josh said, “Beautiful little cottage tucked in the trees with a nice view of the lake. Everything is in terrific shape with great usage of old, vintage doors and windows.”
He said from the dock you can watch the sun rise and set.
Another called it a little slice of heaven.
It goes for $1,701 for five nights.
Other most wish listed homes across all 50 states include a cabin shaped like a camera in Ellijay, Georgia, a rustic western saloon in Tetonia, Idaho, or a remodeled silo in Litchfield, Connecticut.
“These remarkable stays represent a growing demand for travel experiences that go beyond the ordinary,” Airbnb said in its announcement of the most-wished locations. “86% of surveyed travelers say they’re interested in visiting remote or rural destinations — reflecting a broader shift where the stay itself is just as memorable as the destination.”
