Owner of Seabrook horse found shot in the head is being interviewed by deputies
The owner of a dead horse found tied to a tree Tuesday on Wimbee Landing Road in Seabrook has been identified as a man from Delaney Circle.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is interviewing the owner, according to Capt. Bob Bromage, but the man's name has not been released because the department does not know who fired the shot that killed the horse.
The gray mare was found shot in the head after a resident driving by around 4 p.m. Tuesday saw it lying on its side and tied to the tree.
Evidence led officials to believe the horse was shot at another location before its body was dumped, the Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Investigators believe the horse was tied to the tree so the carcass could be pulled off the trailer used to transport it.
No information on whether the owner will face charges has been released.
