Police: High school teacher had inappropriate relationship with teen

A South Carolina high school Spanish teacher has been charged after police say she engaged in sexual activities with a 16-year-old male student.

Alexandra Davis McClure, 25, of Lyman, was charged Wednesday afternoon with three counts of sexual battery in incidents that occurred in October 2014, Lyman Police Chief Jay Hayes said in a statement.

McClure taught Spanish at Byrnes High School in Duncan, in between Greer and Spartanburg.

Hayes said Spartanburg School District 5 officials were recently notified of the incidents.

District officials said McClure resigned during the law enforcement investigation.

An incident report states the 16-year-old was a student in McClure's Spanish I class. He started flirting with her and left his phone number on her desk, the report states.

The two then flirted on Facetime, according to the report. The report states McClure sent the student topless photos, which he saved before deleting.

During the football game between Byrnes High and J.L. Mann High School that year, McClure texted the student to meet her at her house, the report states.

That night, and two other times that month, McClure performed oral sex on the student, the report states.

Hayes said that even though the student was of legal consent age, state law makes it illegal for a teacher to engage in sexual activity with a student.

McClure was booked into the Spartanburg County jail Wednesday afternoon, where she awaited a bond hearing.
