Crews still searching for possible drowning victim in Lake Wylie
Officials with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are still searching for a man they say jumped in Lake Wylie Friday morning but never resurfaced.
Emergency crews were still in the area late Saturday afternoon where the swimmer jumped off a boat near the Buster Boyd Bridge just before 9 a.m. Friday, said DNR spokesman Robert McCullough.
Officials said a man and woman were in a boat that broke down and at some point, the man jumped out of the boat to swim to shore to try to get help. He went under and didn’t come back up. The boat drifted for some time before she was able to get help.
McCullough said Saturday crews with the Department of Natural Resources, which handles boating accidents on the lake, were unsure where the body may be located, but will continue the search.
