Police seek missing woman, baby, who may be held against will in S.C.
A woman and her one-year-old son were reported missing Wednesday afternoon and police say the two may be in South Carolina and in the company of a man wanted for questioning after a shooting in Brunswick County, N.C.
Shayla Da'nia Bryant, 21, and her infant son, Alijah Powell, were last seen by Bryant’s mother and grandfather at the scene of a shooting on Cedar Grove Road in Brunswick County on Saturday, according to an alert from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
Bryant is described as a black woman, standing 5-feet-2-inches tall with tattoos on her chest.
Police say Bryant is likely in the company of Dwight Powell, Jr., 28, who is a person of interest in that shooting. No one was injured in the shooting, according to the alert, but police say Dwight Powell should be considered armed and dangerous and Bryant may be with him against her will.
The two were last seen in Bryant’s black 2003 Honda Pilot bearing a North Carolina license plate of PCK-4315, but police say they could be in a gold 2006 Chevrolet Impala bearing a North Carolina plate of BBS-1087.
The most recent communications with Bryant and her family indicate she is in South Carolina, but a specific location is unknown, according to BCSO.
