Major Lexington road has traffic detoured because of collisions

Just in time for the Wednesday evening commute and as people head out to shop and dine in a popular area of Lexington, part of a major road has been closed.

Inbound lanes in the 5500 block of Sunset Blvd., near Walmart, are being detoured onto Old Cherokee Road due to multiple collisions in the roadway, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The police are urging drivers to be alert and proceed with caution until the vehicles involved in the collisions have been cleared from the roadway.
