Collision closed multiple lanes on I-20 near Columbia
A single-vehicle collision on I-20 impacted traffic shortly before the Thursday evening commute.
The collision occurred before 4 p.m. near Exit 64B on I-20 heading west, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. Exit 64B is for traffic merging onto I-26 and heading toward downtown Columbia, as well as routes to Charleston and Charlotte.
Two lanes of traffic on I-20 westbound were closed as the Columbia Fire Department attempted to rescue those entrapped because of the collision.
The scene was cleared shortly before 4:45 p.m., according to the fire department.
No word has been given on any injuries sustained in the incident.
