Major highway blocked in Lexington for hours after tractor trailer crash

A tractor trailer crash in Lexington County had one side of Interstate 20 completely blocked for hours, according to a tweet from S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper David Jones.

I-20 Westbound near the U.S. 1 exit was blocked at about 4:30 p.m. after the crash.

It was not until 9:15 p.m. that all lanes of traffic were reopened, according to another tweet from Jones.

The accident caused an additional fuel spill, according to a tweet from Lexington County.

Jones tweeted that drivers should expect delays as crews work to clear the roadway. Traffic was being diverted onto U.S. 1 at Exit 58, according to a Tweet from the Lexington Police Department.

The tractor trailer did not crash into any other vehicles, Jones tweeted. The vehicle jack-knifed in the roadway. No one was injured.
