One dead in car crash along Midlands highway

One person is dead after a car crash along U.S. Highway 378, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. Thursday near Crossing Creek Road. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
Cpl. Sonny Collins in a news release said the victim was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer and traveling westbound on 378 when it ran off the road and overturned. The victim was the only passenger in the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt, Collins said.
The crash remains under investigation by highway patrol.
