Collision causes injuries, slows traffic on busy Richland County road

Drivers encountered delays during the Monday morning commute following a crash on a heavily-traveled road in Richland County.

A collision occurred on Garners Ferry Road just before 7:30 a.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

The wreck was blocking traffic in Columbia near the intersection of Garners Ferry and Trotter Road, DPS said. That is near McEntire Joint National Guard Base.

Injuries were reported in the crash, according to DPS.

Information on the number of people hurt and their conditions was not available.

There is no word on what led to the collision, or the number of vehicles involved.
