Traffic backed up on two highways after morning collision
Drivers heading toward Columbia Wednesday morning were delayed following a crash that backed up traffic on two highways.
The collision occurred before 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 26, the South Carolina Department of Transportation said on Twitter.
One westbound lane was closed near Exit 108 B, which is the junction with S.C. 126, according to the tweet. That’s near the area known as Malfunction Junction. The collision was cleared at about 9:30 a.m., SCDOT tweeted.
Traffic was backed up on both highways as a result of the wreck and the emergency responders working at the scene, SCDOT traffic cameras showed.
No injuries were reported in the crash, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Information on the number of vehicles involved in the crash was not available, and there was no word on the cause of the wreck.
