All westbound lanes of highway running through Lexington County blocked by crash

Part of a highway running through Lexington County was completely blocked following a Thursday morning collision.

The crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. near Exit 61 on Interstate 20, the South Carolina Department of Transportation said on Twitter. That’s the junction with U.S. 378, with traffic heading toward West Columbia and Lexington.

All of the westbound lanes on I-20 were shut down by the crash, according to SCDOT. That’s near the area in Columbia called Malfunction Junction.

No injuries were reported in the wreck, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Information on what caused the collision was not available, and there was no word on the number of vehicles involved.

Vehicles were backed up and emergency responders were on the scene, traffic cameras showed.

Traffic was flowing smoothly through the area around noon, traffic cameras showed.
