3-car collision leaves one dead, another injured on SC highway

One person is dead after their vehicle was struck in a multi-car collision on an Orangeburg County road on Wednesday.

S.C. Highway Patrol reports that three vehicles were involved in a Wednesday afternoon collision on Highway 321 near Ada Road, about two miles south of Neeses. The driver of a Mercedes SUV reportedly crossed the center line while driving northbound toward Neeses around 5:15 p.m. and struck a vehicle heading south.

That vehicle then went off the roadway and down an embankment. The driver of the car was killed in the wreck, and a passenger in the vehicle had to be transported to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the Mercedes collided with a Hyundai that was also headed south on 321.

The name of the deceased had not been released Thursday morning. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
