SC man killed in three-vehicle crash identified by coroner
One person is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Orangeburg County Thursday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Jeremy Odom, a 31-year-old Cameron, S.C. resident was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he died as a result of the injuries he suffered in what the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office called an accident.
The collision happened on S.C. 33, near the intersection with Till Road, according to Highway Patrol. That’s near Exit 149 on Interstate 26, which is the route to South Carolina State University.
At about 5 p.m., a Ford SUV and a Mercedes-Benz traveling on S.C. 33 collided with a Nissan sedan, according to Highway Patrol.
Odom was a passenger in the Nissan, Highway Patrol said.
Drivers of all three vehicles were taken to an area hospital. Further information on their conditions was not available.
There was no word if any of the occupants in the collision wore seat belts.
No other injuries were reported in the crash, which continues to be investigated by Highway Patrol.
Through Friday morning, 65 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2022, state Department of Public Safety data shows. Last year, 1,121 people died in crashes in South Carolina, according to DPS.
At least two people have been killed in Orangeburg County crashes in 2022, while 45 died last year, according to DPS.
