Driver dies after veering off road in Greenville County

One person died Thursday afternoon after their vehicle veered off the road and hit “several” trees and a utility pole, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Dominique Demetrius Johnson, 31, was identified by the Greenville County coroner’s office as the driver.

The crash occurred around 3:11 p.m. Thursday and involved one vehicle, a 1991 Honda Accord. There were no passengers in the car and Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was traveling north on North Washington Avenue at US 25 and White Horse Road. The driver’s vehicle veered off the road to the right and then hit the trees and utility pole.

The Highway Patrol did not provide additional information on the circumstance of the crash.
