Drivers on highway in Columbia delayed by traffic jam caused by crash

Drivers making the Thursday morning commute in Columbia were delayed following a crash.

Two westbound lanes on Interstate 20 were blocked following a collision that happened at about 8 a.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The wreck was near Exit 64B, which is the connection with Interstate 26 in the area called Malfunction Junction.

Injuries were reported in the collision, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Information on the number of people hurt, and the amount of vehicles involved was not available.

There was no word on the cause of the collision.

Vehicles were backed up at least a mile on I-20, traffic cameras showed.

At about 8:30 a.m., SCDOT said the scene was cleared, but traffic was still moving slowly through the area, traffic cameras showed.
