Bike rider killed in crash with SUV on busy road in Richland County, SC cops say
One person was killed Sunday morning when a bicycle was hit by an SUV on a busy Richland County road, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened at about 10:45 a.m. on Farrow Road, according to Master Trooper Gary Miller.
The bike rider was entering Farrow Road from a wooded area near Mount Pilgrim Church Road when the crash with a southbound 2016 Infiniti happened, Miller said. That’s close to the intersection with Hard Scrabble Road near Interstate 77.
Information about if the bicyclist died at the scene or was taken to an area hospital was not available.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not publicly identified the bicycle rider.
Miller said the 59-year-old Columbia man driving the SUV was not hurt, and no other injuries were reported.
There was no word if any criminal charges will be pursued, but the Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
