Drivers heading toward Lexington on the Monday morning commute were delayed by a crash that caused a traffic jam.

All of the westbound lanes on Interstate 26 were blocked by the wreck near Exit 97, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. That’s in Richland County, near the Lexington County line, and is the junction with U.S. 176.

The crash occurred at about 7:20 a.m., according to SCDOT.

Information about the cause of the collision, and the number of vehicles involved, was not available.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety did not say if anyone was injured in the crash.

Traffic cameras showed vehicles backed up and several miles of the westbound lanes on I-26 devoid of all traffic.

At about 8:20 a.m., SCDOT said all of the lanes had been reopened, but there was no word on how long it would take to clear the scene.
