Crash blocks all westbound lanes on highway running through Columbia

Drivers making the Monday morning commute in Columbia were delayed by a crash that blocked one side of a major highway.

All of the westbound lanes on Interstate 20 were blocked following a crash near Exit 65, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. That’s the juncture with Broad River Road, and traffic cameras showed the crash happened by the bridge that spans the Broad River.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m., according to SCDOT.

Information about the cause of the crash, and the number of vehicles involved, was not available.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety did not say if anyone was injured in the crash.

Traffic cameras showed vehicles backed up for miles on I-20.

At about 10:25 a.m., SCDOT reported that all of the lanes had been reopened, a disabled vehicle was moved and the scene was cleared.
