I-26 crash closes all eastbound lanes south of Columbia

SC DOT

An early morning crash caused some headaches for commuters on Interstate 26.

The accident near mile marker 136 closed all eastbound lanes heading toward Charleston, S.C. Highway Patrol reports. The backup is near the exit onto Caw Caw Road west of St. Matthews.

State troopers are set up a detour at Exit 139, telling drivers to take a left at U.S. Highway 21 or a right at U.S. Highway 176.

After 9 a.m., traffic was crawling along in one lane of the interstate as seen on a S.C. Department of Transportation traffic camera. Within an hour, both lanes were back open.
