A crash between a sedan and Mack truck has left one person dead, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

At around 4 a.m. Friday, a 2014 Chevy Impala collided with a 2007 Mack truck on Interstate 26 in Orangeburg County near Bowman. Both vehicles contained only one occupant.

The driver of the Impala, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in Orangeburg and later succumbed to their injuries, investigators said.

The crash occurred at the 167 mile marker on I-26, where both vehicles were traveling west. For reasons unknown, the driver of the Impala crashed into the Mack truck. The driver of the Mack truck was uninjured.
